Taking our cue from Monty Python's 'Life of Brian' and Channel 4's 'Father Ted', we decided to take it one step further and satirize religion on a new level. The current Pope, Ratzinger is ripe for slagging and we decided we might as well have a go. Although we never mention his name in the film, it's obvious who we are portraying. We were amazed at some of his comments and opinions. Ratzinger is of the belief that child sex abuse cases are the invention of lefty media moguls with only 20% of reported cases being based on fact. Ratzinger also wants to bring the church back to the 16th century and most recently, the Vatican's exorcist in chief, Gabriele Amorth announced plans to train priests as exorcists so that bishops would have a few in each parish to 'fight the devil head on'. He also believes Harry Potter books, rock music and modern media in general 'corrupt the hearts of the young'. When one considers his insensitive comments about Islam last year before his visit to Turkey, one cannot but draw the conclusion that this man's mind is becoming increasingly divorced from reality.
